On 24-25 February 2015, H.E.Mrs.Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand visited Mumbai and presided over the launch of Discover Thainess 2015 in Mumbai. The event was co-hosted the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways on 25 February 2015 to raise awareness of this new Thai tourism campaign in Indian market.

The venue was transformed into the floating market in Amphwa District that is very famous for its lively floating market, Thailand reflecting the Thai ways of life that intertwined with water. There were also Thai food, snacks, fruits and desserts in the market. Many cultural shows such as dances and Muay Thai were performed to display one of the dimensions of Thainess. Last but not least, the art of Thai spa and massage was also demonstrated.

Thereafter, H.E. the Minister gave an interview to local media and journalists and also met with Indian travel agents to explore ways to further promote Thai tourism in India.

Numbers of Indian tourism to Thailand has been on an increase except for last year when the numbers dropped. However, it is expected that the numbers will soar back to touch one million level again this year after that was witnessed in 2012 and 2013. Also, according to 2014 record, Indian tourists had longer stays and spent more in Thailand.
