Between 26-27 February 2016, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai organized the se3cond Mobile Consular Services to Thai citizens in Aurangabad. The services included legalization of documents, explanation of emergency evacuation plan and consultations on consular and education issues for Thai Buddhist monks.
The Consulate – General team also visited the residence generously offered to Thai student-monks to stay without charge. The monks have planned to extend the residence for the increased number of Thai monks and religious tourists visiting Aurangabad and the well-known caves. The Consulate –General already made initial contribution to the project and have requested authorization to make further donation.
There are currently a number of Thai student-monks in Aurangabad, most of whom travel back and forth between Thailand and Aurangabad, whole 6 stay year round. In addition to their studies, Thai monks contribute significantly to the local Buddhist community which helps enhance the people-to-people relations between Thailand and India.
