On 30 January 2016, the Royal Thai Consulate participated in the ceremony in Pune where 10 Buddha statues from Thailand were donated to Buddhist temples in Maharashta.  The project is the initiative of Thai monks and citizen who studied at Pune University 20-30 years ago, with coorperation from MahaChulalongkorn Buddhist University, with the objective of supporting Buddhism in India.  Over 300 people, both Thais and Indians, participated at the ceremony.

The Indian Buddhist community expressed deep gratitude for the donation which will certainly contribute to Buddhhism in India.  This gesture will also promote Thailand and cordial relation between the two countries as well as facilitate the livelihood of Thai students and citizens in India.
