Royal Thai Consulate-General co-organised a tourism road in Ahmedabad

On 14 February 2014, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mumbai, co-organised the Tourism Road Show Event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.  With an aim to promote Thailand as a cultural tourist destination, the Consulate-General informed participants about Phi Ta Khon Festival, a unique cultural festivity from North Eastern Thailand, and Thai cultural performances.

The cultural performances comprised Kinari Dance, a dance originates in the South of Thailand, Human Puppet, Serng Kala, a cultural fast-beat dance from North Eastern, and Phi Ta Khon Dance created to display the joyful atmosphere of the festival as well as to showcase its unique mask and costume. The shows were performed by Thai students from Pune.   

The Deputy Consul-General addressed both Thais and Indians who participated in the event. He underlined the importance of tourism industry towards Thai economy, the new strategy of Tourism Authority of Thailand to focus on its new slogan, “Amazing Thailand: It begins with the people”.

Last year (2013), 26.7 million foreign tourists visited Thailand, an increase of 19.6%. Among them were 1.05 million Indians.
