Between 30 April - 1 May 2016, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai organized the second “Thai Food Festival 2016” in Mumbai under the theme “Eat Thai, Tour Thai, and Fly Thai”. Thai Chefs from Suan Dusit University has been invited to prepare Thai dishes, dessert, and herbal drinks such as Green Curry, Massaman, Stir Fried Chicken with Basil, Thai Fish Cakes, Thai Papaya Salad, Khao Suey, Pad Thai, Longan Juice, Butterfly Pea Flower Drink, Thai Milk Tea, and Water Chestnuts in Coconut Milk. Participants enjoyed cooking demonstrations of Thai dishes and dessert such as Luk Choup, Tom Yum, Pha-Naeng Kai, Thai Green Prawns Curry, and Banana fritters.

In addition to the promotion of Thai foods, the Consulate – General received cooperation from Thai companies to introduce their products in the event such as Five Star Chicken from The Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), Pune Maharashtra, Vista Mista from Dutch Mill, Baramati Maharashtra, Melamine tableware from Srithai Superware, Ahmedabad Gujarat and Thai SMEs from Thailand such as Waydhana and Win Chance Foods. Products from two Indian companies represented by Mapleleaf (Thai cooking ingredients) and Arjun Fruit Shop (Thai fresh fruits) were also available for purchase at the event.

In order to encourage Indians to travel to Thailand, information about various destinations in Thailand was provided at the booth of Thailand Tourism Authority, Mumbai office. Furthermore, Thai Airways sponsored 10 round-trip tickets for the route Mumbai – Bangkok and Bangkok Airways sponsored 4 round-trip tickets for the route Mumbai – Phuket and Mumbai –Krabi for lucky draw.

“Thai Food Festival” was a successfully concluded with the objective of encouraging Indians to consume Thai foods. The appreciation of Thai foods could further attract more and more Indians to travel to Thailand by flying with Thai airlines.
