SMART VISA

What is SMART VISA:
The SMART Visa is a new type of visa specially designed to encourage highly-skilled professionals and talents to work or invest in the 13 targeted S-Curve industries, namely (1) next-generation automotive, (2) smart electronics, (3) affluent, medical and wellness tourism, (4) agriculture and biotechnology, (5) food for the future, (6) robotics, (7) aviation and logistics, (8) biofuels and biochemicals, (9) digital, and (10) medical hub (11) alternative dispute resolution (12) human resources developent in science and technology (13) environmental management and renewable energy.
Categories of SMART VISA:
There are 5 categories of SMART VISA
<ol>
<li>Talent</li>
<li>Investor</li>
<li>Executive</li>
<li>Startup</li>
<li>Others (i.e. legal dependents, namely spouse and children, if any).&nbsp;</li>
</ol>
Benefit of SMART VISA:
SMART Visa provides more benefits and privileges than any other types of visa. These benefits are as follows:&nbsp;
<ol>
<li>Visa validity up to 4 years (instead of the usual 1 year)</li>
<li>No requirement of work permit</li>
<li>Extension of reporting of stay to Immigration Bureau &ndash; from every 90-day to every year&nbsp;</li>
<li>The right of legal dependents (spouse and children) of the SMART Visa holder to live and work in Thailand equivalent to SMART visa holder (only SMART &ldquo;T&rdquo; type allows dependents of SMART Visa holder to work in Thailand).</li>
</ol>
VISA FEE:

<li>24,000 INR for 1-year multiple entry</li>
<li>46,000 INR for 2-year multiple entry</li>
<li>69,000 INR for 3-year multiple entry</li>
<li>92,000 INR for 4-year multiple entry</li>

<h2>Procedures for Qualification Endorsement Application and SMART Visa Issuance</h2>

<li class="lead">Register for online qualification endorsement application for SMART Visa on&nbsp;<a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://smart-visa.boi.go.th/register.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://smart-visa.boi.go.th</a>&nbsp;and activate an online account through a confirmation e-mail.</li>
<li class="lead">Complete an application form for the type of SMART Visa you wish to apply (T, I, E, S, and O if any) and make sure that you have a PDF version of the required documents you will need to upload and submit after the application form and required documents are all uploaded. By completing the online application, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted the qualification endorsement requirements.</li>
<li class="lead">Within 30 working days after having received complete documents, OSS will notify the applicant, the Immigration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant agencies of the result of qualification endorsement application.</li>
<li class="lead">The qualified applicant can then proceed with applying for SMART Visa issuance at one of the following places, within 60 days from issuance date of the endorsement letter, which will be used as one of the supporting document for application. The processing fee is 10,000 Baht per year of visa permission (cash only).</li>

Smart Visa

Visa Expiration Date = Visa Validity
The visa expiration date is shown on the visa. Depending on the alien&rsquo;s nationality, visas can be issued for any number of entries, from as little as one entry to as many as multiple (unlimited) entries, for the same purpose of travel.
<ul>
<li>This generally means the visa is valid, or can be used from the date it is issued until the date it expires, for travel for the same purpose, when the visa is issued for multiple entry.</li>
<li>This time period from the visa issuance date to visa expiration date as shown on the visa, is called visa validity. If you travel frequently as a tourist for example, with a multiple entry visa, you do not have to apply for a new visa each time you want to travel to Thailand.</li>
<li>The visa validity is the length of time you are permitted to travel to a port-of-entry in Thailand to request permission of the immigration officer to permit you to enter Thailand. The visa does not guarantee entry to Thailand.</li>
<li>The Expiration Date for the visa should not be confused with the authorized length of your stay in Thailand, given to you by the immigration officer at port-of-entry. The visa expiration date has nothing to do with the authorized length of your stay in Thailand for any given visit.</li>
</ul>
The Period of Stay
<ul>
<li>The period of stay is granted by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry and in accordance with the type of visa. </li>
<li>For example, the period of stay for a transit visa is not exceeding 30 days, for a tourist visa is not exceeding 60 days and for a non-immigrant visa is not exceeding 90 days from the arrival date. </li>
<li>The period of stay granted by the immigration officer is displayed on the arrival stamp. </li>
<li>Travellers who wish to stay longer than such period may apply for extension of stay at offices of the Immigration Division 1 in Bangkok, located at Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 or at an Immigration office located in the provinces.&nbsp;</li>
