SMART VISA
What is SMART VISA:
The SMART Visa is a new type of visa specially designed to encourage highly-skilled professionals and talents to work or invest in the 13 targeted S-Curve industries, namely (1) next-generation automotive, (2) smart electronics, (3) affluent, medical and wellness tourism, (4) agriculture and biotechnology, (5) food for the future, (6) robotics, (7) aviation and logistics, (8) biofuels and biochemicals, (9) digital, and (10) medical hub (11) alternative dispute resolution (12) human resources developent in science and technology (13) environmental management and renewable energy.
Categories of SMART VISA:
There are 5 categories of SMART VISA
- Talent
- Investor
- Executive
- Startup
- Others (i.e. legal dependents, namely spouse and children, if any).
Benefit of SMART VISA:
SMART Visa provides more benefits and privileges than any other types of visa. These benefits are as follows:
- Visa validity up to 4 years (instead of the usual 1 year)
- No requirement of work permit
- Extension of reporting of stay to Immigration Bureau – from every 90-day to every year
- The right of legal dependents (spouse and children) of the SMART Visa holder to live and work in Thailand equivalent to SMART visa holder (only SMART “T” type allows dependents of SMART Visa holder to work in Thailand).
VISA FEE:
- 24,000 INR for 1-year multiple entry
- 46,000 INR for 2-year multiple entry
- 69,000 INR for 3-year multiple entry
- 92,000 INR for 4-year multiple entry

Procedures for Qualification Endorsement Application and SMART Visa Issuance
- Register for online qualification endorsement application for SMART Visa on https://smart-visa.boi.go.th and activate an online account through a confirmation e-mail.
- Complete an application form for the type of SMART Visa you wish to apply (T, I, E, S, and O if any) and make sure that you have a PDF version of the required documents you will need to upload and submit after the application form and required documents are all uploaded. By completing the online application, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted the qualification endorsement requirements.
- Within 30 working days after having received complete documents, OSS will notify the applicant, the Immigration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant agencies of the result of qualification endorsement application.
- The qualified applicant can then proceed with applying for SMART Visa issuance at one of the following places, within 60 days from issuance date of the endorsement letter, which will be used as one of the supporting document for application. The processing fee is 10,000 Baht per year of visa permission (cash only).

NOTE: Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English and the translation must be certified by the relevant Embassy/Consulate in India.
