On the evening of 30 November 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai organized a National Day reception at the Jade Sky Rooftop, Jade Garden, Nehru Center Building, Mumbai. The event commemorated the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, celebrating National Day and Father's Day. Over 250 people attended, including members of the consular corps, foreign guests, the Thai and Indian private sector, and Thai residents within the consular area.
Mr. Donnawit Poolsawat, Consul-General, presided over the opening speech, with Mrs. Manisha Patankar-Mhaiskar, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer of the General Administration Department, representing the Government of Maharashtra as the guest of honor on the Indian side.
During the occasion, the Consul-General delivered a speech highlighting the significance of December 5th in Thailand and paid tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. He emphasized the importance of royal-initiated projects and the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. Additionally, he underscored the enduring Thailand-India relationship, expressing the Consulate-General's commitment to further promote cooperation between the two countries. The Consul-General highlighted the success of various projects in trade, investment, and tourism promotion over the past year. He also outlined the Consulate-General's activity plans for 2024, including Thailand Week and Top Thai Brand initiatives.
As part of the reception, the Consulate-General organized related exhibitions, featuring an Exhibition in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, a Thai product display booth under Thai Select by the Thai Trade Office in Mumbai, a Thai fruit and vegetable carving demonstration booth, and a Thai Food demonstration booth by Thai Chefs from Consul-General's residence and DY Patil University. The demonstrations included popular Thai dishes such as Papaya Salad, Chicken Larb, Pad Thai, as well as Thai desserts like Thong Yod, Foi Thong, and Med Khanoon, among others.
