- The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai, in collaboration with a delegation from Thailand, successfully implemented a project to promote and enhance anti-human trafficking efforts within the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate in Maharashtra, India, from 3-6 September 2024. The project was led by

Mr. Donnawit Poolsawat, Consul-General of Thailand in Mumbai, reflecting the Thai Government’s strong commitment to combatting human trafficking and protecting Thai nationals abroad.

 

- Throughout the program, the Consulate-General and the Thai delegation engaged in high-level discussions with key organizations, including the Department of Women and Child Development, the Government State Home for Women in Pune, and the Rescue Foundation, a prominent NGO specializing in human trafficking prevention. These meetings aimed to strengthen Thai-Indian collaboration on providing assistance to Thai victims of human trafficking in India and to explore joint efforts in prevention, protection, and rehabilitation of trafficking victims.

 

- The key achievements of this project include:

• Enhancing cooperation between Thai and Indian authorities to streamline the identification and repatriation processes for victims of human trafficking.

• Exchanging best practices in victim support, rehabilitation, and reintegration, with particular focus on Thai nationals.

• Exploring the potential for formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Thailand and India to expedite legal processes and strengthen protections for trafficking victims.

 

- The Royal Thai Consulate-General remains committed to proactive engagement in supporting Thai nationals and fostering international cooperation in the ongoing fight against human trafficking. This project reaffirms Thailand’s dedication to safeguarding human rights and ensuring justice for victims of human trafficking abroad.
