Notice for Thai Nationals Travelling to India
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai wishes to remind Thai nationals traveling to India to exercise strict compliance with Indian laws and inspect belongings against prohibited items before entering India. This measure aims to prevent any involvement in the possession and transportation of marijuana and related products, which are classified as illegal narcotics in India. The following guidelines are provided for your information:
- Marijuana is illegal in India
- Possession and/or smuggling of marijuana is a serious criminal offense in India, and can lead to arrest, imprisonment, and fines.
- Do not accept items from unknown individuals
- Never carry luggage or items from unknown individuals.
- Carefully check your belongings against prohibited or restricted items before travelling.
- Respect the local laws while travelling
- When travelling abroad, you are subject to the local laws, the Royal Thai Consulate-General cannot interfere in the judicial system of another country.
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai urges all Thai nationals to respect the local laws of their destination country. Compliance with the local laws will help ensure a safe and trouble-free stay abroad.
